The second law of thermodynamics only applies to closed systems.

It does not apply to the Earth, as it is no way a closed system. Life is free to reverse entropy all it wants, so long as it uses energy to do so.

If anything, the second law of thermodynamics detracts from the idea of "God" - or any other force that created the universe with us in mind, as it means we're eventually doomed. Though I suppose it has no effect on a god who doesn't give a shit about us, or only sees us as some very minor part of his grander plan, for which it made this monstrosity of a universe. Given how much of it is hostile to life as we know it, such a demonic architect seems more likely, though the fact that everything in it seems procedurally generated, rather than simply appearing fully functional from nowhere, we can take some solace in the fact that it's likely that, should there be such an uncaring god, it isn't omnipotent.
