Which books would recommend for trigonometry and calculus?

How do I convince my philosophy teacher than "before" the big bang is an invalid question? He keeps saying that he can ask it because he is not talking about physics, but philosophy. Isn't philosophy's base observation of natural phenoma?

Oh right, wanted to ask, what's the basis behind tachyons? I don't get why such a particle has been hypothesised, what is it's need in the standard model?

by sine and cosine values are you referring to sinΘ=b/r CosΘ= a/r etc. etc.

So all you /sci/entists know what the unit circle is, correct? On a quiz I had on it, I changed the name of it to the "astronomical unit circle", and changed the value of the radius from 1 to 93 million. Unfortunately, no one, not even the teacher, got it; I did, though, still get a 100 after explaining it to her....
