exactly, all AI will ever prove is trivial identities because they lack the creativity and soul to discover deep connections between different fields of mathematics and results that the community actually cares about because they might be useful in advancing specific research programs. AI is only good for replicating what already exists and that's the opposite of what academia should strive for (in any field).

Sobolev spaces... A threat or an opportunity? My instructor suggested me to write my Bachelor's thesis about Sobolev spaces based on what courses I have taken so far, but I don't know shit about Sobolev spaces apart from quickly skimming through the wikipedia article. Should I do it? Is it even math, or is it just engineering in disguise? Please help!
