Paralysis is easier to generate than pain response. The main threat is insanity from sensory deprivation or garbled input.

But we'd have experimented on animals and would know the signs of insanity setting in beforehand, of course...in which case, the experiment would be terminated, any deviant data would be erased, and we'd start over again.

The subject would never remember...OR WOULD THEY?
