So /sci/ I got into a University to study mechanical engineering and I´ve had my first classes this week. I got in by acing the chemistry test, doing ok in physics and sucking at math, but the worst 1 was ignored (lol great policy)

So I know alot about chemistry eventhough I don´t have to and I don´t know shit about math eventhough I have 8 obligatory courses waiting. I have been dying inside trying to learn high-school math AND college match at the same time.

Anybody got similar experiences?

I guess phsycology isn't a science because the underlying patterns in human behaviour are subject to such a large degree of variance due to the many factors that influence human behaviour, such as genetics, conditioning, how much sunlight we get on any given day, what food we eat, etc.

Psycology could be as accurate as chemistry and physics if it wasn't for our limited understanding and inability to quantify the numerous finite factors involved.

Psychology here isn't respected as a science because psychology doesn't nescessarily require the same intellectual aptitudes as other sciences require for one to become an established science, either.
Secondly, unlike most other sciences, Psychology lacks visible impact on society, unlike math and medicine. Because of it's flimsy scientific structure, it's hard to measure what progression it makes in an individual.

Lastly, Psychology is not recognized as a science mostly because scientists aren't any more humble than the average idiot; egos prevail, and Psychology is dubbed inferior to 'real' sciences. The more inferior each science is to another, the more superior the self-proclaimed 'real science' scientists become.
