This is a plot by the right to keep you stupid.
The reason colleges are primarily liberal is because facts and logic, which colleges exist to study and apply in depth, have a liberal bias.
When you stop letting other peoples' interpretation of religious texts decide your value system and start thinking for yourself, you can't help but move away from conservative values.
