Since everyone seems to be getting hung up on the semantics, let's try this as an exercise: Imagine yourself holding a common thing, like a potato or a strawberry. Now try to describe it without naming it or it's parts.

If you approach this any differently than you would actually do it while holding the item then you have some degree of aphantasia. If you don't have aphantasia you will study the visualized item to make your description, wheras someone with aphantasia will just try to list qualities they associate with the item.

I think a common quality of people who visualize is the addition of details that aren;t central to the item but could be described if necessary. Like if a visualize a person, they will be wearing clothes and I could describe these clothes if asked without having to think about it.
