Hi Sci.

I have a lot of difficulty with taking a problem from the physical and defining it mathematically. Is there a branch of mathematics that I can study directly to be able to take physical ideas and transfer them into equations?

I'm currently studying partial differential equations (PDE) and if you have any good books that deal with my issue I'd be glad to study them alongside PDE's.

Thanks.

Quick partial derivative here...

f(x, y) = xy sin(pi*x) + y

What is Fx?

Say a man likes to right the wrongs of the modern world where the light of justice don't shine.
Say a man need to avoid the penalty of circumnavigating the criminal justice system.
Say a man need to beat forensics.
Say a man need to avoid losing skin cells or make them unreadable to forensics team.

What say you that a man should do, should this path he wish to pursue?

How do /sci/ gets motivated? What is your drive?

I have really big troubles getting motivated. I finally got my medication under control, but I still lack... the willpower to go through the shitty classes. Some are just amazing and fun, but some are just a fucking drag...

How do /sci/ gets motivated in the morning?

Ok so I'm doing Algebra I for my freshman year of high school and she has us factoring trinomials.

the problem is, everytime I get the answer it comes out backward, for example.

3(2a - 5)(3a - 1) would be how I factored 18a^2 -51a +15 but in the book it has it backwards, they say that the answer is

3(3a - 1) (2a - 5)

why?

When I multiply mines it gives back the trinomial, but I'm so sure that if I change the order like that it will fuck something up as is a key characteristic of me fucking everything up.

I think that magic might be possible.

Magic is only something that majorly alters something

maybe magic is something that can be created.

Think of it as an ultimate component made out of who knows what.

maybe its possible.

I've figured out where everything comes from. The only way for there to be an origin is if we started out with nothing. That means there is NOTHING. So there is no space, no time, and most importantly no laws. Which means the law of conservation of matter doesn't apply. So BOOM! Here we are

So there's hydrogen, a highly flammable element, and Oxygen, element that reacts as fuel in a simple combustion reaction. Why the fuck H2O does not burn up in contact with anything that could trigger that combustion reaction, like a match on fire\

not exactly sci related, but i'm reading about foreign trade and trade deficits and shit back in the 1700-1800's, and how people in europe thought importing more than they exported was bad, and i don't get it. if my country is sending more gold/silver abroad than it's receiving, so what? wouldn't it just cause inflation?

To understand evolution on a macro level, is it possible to analyse evolution on a micro level, within our own everyday lives?

Say, for example, that you are faced with a constant and reoccurring problem throughout your life. The first few times you continually make the same mistake until you start actually trialling new ways of overcoming or getting around it. Once that new method works, it becomes rote.

Is evolution congruent with this analogy? And, if so, is it fair to say that we, ourselves, go through evolution during our lifetime?

/sci/, next year I might attend the erasmus program for a math university abroad. its famous and supposedly one of the most demanding. I'm a good student and my current university is easy for me. What can I expect? Share your experiences from such universities please. (only if you are a math/physics undergrad)

Why do we learn science like physics or chemistry in school?

Math can be useful for knowing how much I have to pay for my cheeseburger, but science is just boring and I'll never need it again.

Why do they keep tormenting us with stuff that we will forget after school anyway?
