For [math]x \in \mathbb{Z}_{17}[/math], [math]x^{17} = x[/math] (Fermat's little theorem), hence [math]x^{16} = 1[/math] (divide both sides), hence [math]x^{15} = x^{-1}[/math]
So the only solution is [math]x = 1[/math]
