not OP here, but the concept of the black hole was thought up during an era about a century ago as you said and during that era it was assumed that overcoming neutron degeneracy pressure would necessarily create a singularity because there would be no further forces to resist gravity. About 50 years ago it was discovered that there are further forces with would resist gravity in the situation of a neutron collapse, but the concept of the black hole has never been revised under that paradigm, stupid niggers like the science fiction version of the black hole better than the really based description so they're willing to willfully ignore the existence of quarks to keep their science fiction fantasy alive.
