"Health care" shouldn't be treated as a commodity, as one's ability to live on a physiological level is not a fucking commodity.

America has a persistent tradition of being backwards. Perhaps it's because of the archaic political philosophy that nearly half of our country parades around?

Most of /sci/ is made up of rationalists and materialists, so you'll be getting a similar answer from other Anons here.

Nothing more than the structure of the metal, water, salt, etc that make up the current form of your body makes you human. By the common mind, there is often some tacit pseudo-scientific law that one is made up of more than the elements that form the rest of the universe, whether is be life or inanimate debris within the universe. The two are hardly different. There is no "essence" in humans that makes us "human" or different from the endless sequences of causality that defines all that happens within this reality.

In principle, you could create a robot that could do all the human brain can do. In fact, you could literally create an artificial human brain. One that could have stronger emotion, ambition, see more beauty in this universe, and feel more alive than any human ever could. You are defined by efficiency of various parts of your brain and nothing more.

>ethical concerns

You realize science functions of empiricism and rationalism, right? Ethics is only relevant when science is being applied.

You should have argued that there would have been perhaps less/more data gained and just that. There was no argument over whether or not the study would have been practical.
