If you do this, be a bit cautious -- because poptart wrappers are not designed for optical use, the consistency of the metallic coating on the wrappers is not great. This is a case of "you are probably fine, but if not you won't know it until you wake up blind the next day."

To my mind, "probably OK" is to low a standard to risk my eyesight, your mileage may varyon that. The pinhole camera trick is absolutely safe, as is using binoculars to project an image, (DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH THE BINOCULARS)

nowadays I feel the connotation applies more to "playing evolution," doing something rash and irresponsible such as giving an unfair advantage to a species which can breed and interact with native species. Not that that may even be a bad thing, its just we don't know what may happen.
