Can someone recommend (a) good text(s) for abstract and/or linear algebra? I've taken linear algebra before, but I didn't learn all that much 'cause the prof was really slow, and I feel there's a lot of interesting and useful stuff that I could benefit from. BTW I'm a physicsfag, but I'm not math-shy.

/sci/ should be well versed in explorers of space as well of earth. I recently read the diary of Richard Evelyn Byrd, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. What do you guys think of his little 'encounter' in Antartica?
