Is there a term for a sort of opposite ideology to philosophy, the knowledge that everything already exists and we have to determine it, while philosophy is more "nothing exists until we believe it does."

Like philosophers frequently talk about this or that argument being proven, by taking "axioms", which by definition, are chosen to be right/correct. It pretty much makes me angry because for any philosophical argument, literally, whether it's true or not or otherwise is dependent upon initial definitions and semantics. Something like "can you distinguish two perfectly identical objects?". The answer simply boils down to "well can we or not", and has no special or thought-provoking qualities.

Pic related, it's an engineer, and I've been considering the term "Engineering Philosophy" as pejoratively, engineers were the ones that do, and not necessarily think.

/sci/ of all organizations, I think you would be one of the best to ask.

I am a sophomore in high school right now (I know I'm a bit young to be thinking about this atm) but I am wondering.

I want to be an Aerospace Engineer, preferably working for Boeing or Lockheed Martin, but really who ever is offering good work, and I have some questions.

Firstly, what is a good thing to major in? Should I go with Aerospace or Mechanical? I think some schools combine the two.

Secondly, what are some good schools for engineering? My aunt told me to look at Case, MIT, and John Hopkins. My gpa from last year wasn't great (3.3) but I didn't take any honors course, and I am now. I am also doing much better.

Lastly, what would you guys recommend I do if I want to secure a spot in the colleges I want? I don't do any sports, but my academics are stronghold, specifically so in Math, Science, & Computer Programming.

Thanks in advance!

Hey /sci/,
I'm thinking of becoming an engineer. I just wanted your opinions.

What do you think is a good field within engineering to pursue?

If any of you are majoring in engineering or a form of it, what career are you trying to obtain?

And, for now anyways, what do you consider the most lucrative engineering field?

Sorry, please ask me to explain the question if I worded it unusually and you don't understand.
