Open Source Orbital Infrastructure Corporation
Status Update - May 19, 2023

NEW BUSINESS:

Thanks to feed back from the community we have decided to rebrand from "Space Elevator", "Sky Hook", "Orbital Tether System" to the more inclusive and easy to understand "OPEN SOURCE ORBITAL INFRASTRUCTURE CORPORATION(OSOIC)".

While OSOIC does not make a cool acronym it is very descriptive of our mission and goals. We will be operating under the philosophy of open source with the finer points to be worked out later. The main idea is to get the technology and information into as many hands as possible with as few barriers of entry as possible. We are completely and utterly non-dogmatic on what technology can and will be used to build Earth's orbital infrastructure and we will be incorporated sooner rather than later. Hence Open Source Orbital Infrastructure Corp.

OLD BUSINESS:

Anons commented that a space plane attempting to meet a space tether in high altitude will be difficult. Research confirms this will be an area that needs worked on. Further research is needed.

I discussed capturing space junk to aid us in building a counter weight in orbit for infrastructure projects. Research has yielded promising paths to make this happen. Electrodynamic Tethers seem like a viable and simple method to gather space junk. The genius of using space junk is we can charge for the service. Why clean up trash for free? We will be offering a priceless service while also gathering hard won mass in orbit for the all important counter weight. Please note that your boyfriend Elon Musk plans to pump Earth Orbit with old Starlink satellites which have a 5 year projected lifespan. Despite Musk's claims not all will be deorbited and some will become space junk. Not only that but it's wasteful to deorbit them, you spent the fuel to lift the mass off Earth, why waste it sending mass needlessly back to the gravity well? China will also likely be filling space with trash as they suck like that.
