Oh, there definitely COULD have been divergence in brain function over the course of 50 ka.

The trouble is that stormfags (who take it as an article of faith that black people are inferior) read that and conclude that divergence in brain function MUST, ABSOLUTELY MUST, have happened such that white people are inherently smarter, despite the lack of good evidence showing such a pattern. And then when actual population geneticists and evolutionary anthropologists pour cold water on that, they (since they're so pathetic that their entire self-worth is predicated on being Better Than The Blacks) raise holy hell and start screeching about how It's A (((Conspiracy))) and that the scientists saying that white people aren't inherently superior are Actually Anti-Scientific Creationists.
