you need to study abroad for a semester. it looks very good on a resume and it's just lets you see another part of the world and opens you mind up to realize that where you live isn't what it's like everywhere else, and no i'm not saying to go to fucking africa on some humanitarian trip. If you're from the USA, go to Germany or the UK. do something. do the concurrent german engineering major that like every good engineering uni has.(especially if you're ME)

If your degree doesn't include some programming classes, take some or learn it on your own if you have to.

don't be a loser that ONLY goes to class and studies. Be in some organization, especially if it's competitive in your field.

have your own dorm/apartment if you possibly can. roommates suck 9/10 times.

don't bother majoring in something too specific. that's what masters degrees are for. mechanical/civil/electrical/chemical(barely) are what you should choose between, unless your uni has a nuclear program that's like #5 in the country or some shit and you just love nuclear, then fuck you do that you annoying cunt. you'll end up working in ME 9/10 times anyway.

do not get a PhD if you haven't actually worked yet. it will make you look like you weren't able to get a job when you graduated, and you'll be overqualified for "entry-level" jobs.
