Could molten salt reactors really be the future of our energy?
China wants to make a thorium powered molten salt reactor in less than a decade.
is this really as good as it sounds, or is there a catch.

[spoiler]So what does /sci/ think about thorium reactors? Saw a video on TED about thorium and it seems too good to be true.</spoiler>

i love the idea of lftr's but how exactly does this setup generate electricity? the solid fuel uranium reactors boil water into steam to spin a turbine and it seems like it's implied that lftr's do not do this. if they don't, they what do they do?
