Most species still go extinct even when you take evolutionary lineages into account. The species that exist today are all descended from only a tiny fraction of the species that existed 100 million years ago.

How come all organisms on earth descend from a single organism? Shouldn't there be several evolution trees?

How do I view the citations for a particular article? I'd link to the one in general, but I'd like to learn as a skill.

I have a particular genetics article that proposes a few hypotheses. I want to find the articles that cite it.

Hinduists (Hare-Krishnas) where I live they don't believe in evolution.
We also didn't go to the moon because "Prabhupad said so."

I know this because I was raised to believe in all the Vedas.

Religion in general is just poison.

>The world doesn't care about animals.
Yep, you really are that dumb

Look at my pic. ALL life we have EVER observed comes from a SINGLE event.

We have absolutely no measure of how common that event is because we have ONE data point. There has never been an instance of life forming independently, it all comes from this one event that occured in our past.

Life existing on another planet EVEN IF IT WAS JUST BACTERIA, would have astounding implications that would effect how we view our place in the cosmos and what we know about life in very profound ways.

If you still can't see that then you are literally hopeless.

pic related

This always reminds me that everything we know about life has come from a single event.

What if this event is so rare that a thousand universes could come into existence and die before there is an appreciable chance... and what if even out of all of those many of the "life" events don't explode to give rise to the multitude of life that we have here on Earth.

TLDR; we literally only have ONE data point... Any guess as to whether or not we are alone in the universe is entirely baseless.

Why are we assuming that all this change can occur in 1,000

Evolution operates on the time scale of millions of years, not thousands
here is a timeline of human evolution:

also pic related.

and this was when our population was far smaller than it is today. Someone correct me on this last point if I am wrong, but wouldn't our larger population make it take even longer for evolution to occur species wide? It will take longer for changes to permeate throughout the entire species.

is there like a /sci/ info pack or anything? I think it would be cool if the mod for this board was like a college professor or a scientist or some shit and made a sticky of knowledge.

onto all our foods and vegetables to make us sick
u fuckers want us to die when we cant work anymore?

god why is noone stopping science.
officials told me you are exposing fucking everyone
to dihydrogenmonooxide.

this is the fucking last straw, ive accepted enough from this
ridiculous "science" the lord wasn't killing us, all bad started
on the moment we stopped believing in jesus and started
living by the rules of "science"
long I lasted for this day that we can finally kick science's
enormous butt. you will not get away with this one.
draining our life is no longer possible! we now know.
