Hey /sci/ anyone know what's the best university for fusion research?

Looking around it seems like MIT, Princeton or UW-Madison have the most and best plasma/nuclear fusion facilities. Anyone have background knowledge?

Also, what's the feasibility that humanity gets fusion to work within our lifetimes? If it is literally just technical problems that can be solved through testing and experiments why is it not being massively funded? No matter what the cost it'll be repaid in 50-60 or 100 years of a whole economy powered by fusion. Why not more funding?

Anyone here go to MIT or any other top end schools for undergrad? I just applied to MIT, Stanford and CalTech.

3.9 GPA (non-weighted)
Took 9 AP classes up through junior year, taking 4 more this year
Taking thermo, biochem and discrete math at local college this year
32 ACT, 34 Math and science
800 Math level 2, 730 molecu bio SAT subjects
worked in genetics lab for a month over summer, didn't publish or anything, just worked with post-docs and got experience
big into running, cross country captain, state qualifier, track and field
Did science team, math team, chess team, science club and other extra circulars
wrote my essays on my passion for science and curiosity
White, upper middle class

what are my chances of getting in?

I already have scholarships that will pay, so I won't come out with any debt.

This stuff is amazing. I normally dismiss all the singularity faggots that are hurp derping, but after hearing something like this, I have confidence that we might live to 120-130s. This is crazyness.

Fusion reactors, what is going on with them? I read they made an experiemental one in france (forgot exact city), but is there any hope for fusion power? What do you guys think?
