well I have to go to sleep so i'll post the solution. It turns out because 7 is prime, 7 divides a*b => 7 divides a or 7 divides b. this is called euclids lemma, which i invite you to look up the proof of, its not a difficult proof. and so by using induction you can see that if 7 divides 2^n then 7 divides 2 which is a contradiction.
