According to the Entropy everything tend to disorder so, how complex life exist?

if entropy only increases, then why does everything in the universe moves to the most stable place where the most unstable place are very high in entropy? Example: protons, neutrons and electrons prefer to form neon gas over a quark-gluon plasma but a quark-gluon plasma is more disordered than neon gas

So Entropy of the universe increase constantly, but Q = TS. Then the thermal energy of the universe increase constantly.

So how can the first law stay true ?

Anyone care to give me a definition of entropy that is simpler than wikipidia?

The demon's act of observation would be considered work, and therefore the principle of the demon requiring no energy input would violate the laws of thermodynamics, rendering the entire thought experiment moot. An interesting attempt at defining a situation where entropy can be reversed, but there will always be insufficient data for a meaningful answer.

If net change in entropy is always positive, will it continue to increase to infinity or will it level off at an asymptotic value? Will the universe no longer be able to engage in heat transfer?

Hey /sci/,

I am currently a Respiratory Therapy student looking to get a hold of the Kettering Exam CRT/RRT reviews. I am also low on cash so I am also looking to possibly torrent these.

Do you guys know of any sites that may have this?

Thank you for any help.

/sci/, how would you BEST describe the concept of entropy?
And why does it have the units of Joule/Kelvin?

Men often feel as if women are there inferiors, but are they justified? My argument is yes, although that does not necessarily mean that women are lesser beings. I have come to find that the reason many men hold women to be below them is that most women are lacking in the qualities (compared to men) that men value uniquely. Honor, courage, bravery, work ethic, sense of duty, ambition, fairness, justice, well-placed modesty, practicality, etc. This not to say that women are lesser beings, only that if all women were suddenly turned into men, they would still be greatly disliked by the male population because they lack what men value. As humans, women are not less, just different. They value different qualities that are not as "noble" as the ones that men value. A woman is unlikely to fight in a war simply because of a sense of duty, or because her honor is at stake. A woman is unlikely to come to a rational, fairly-judged conclusion because she values the interests of herself and her friends above any other. To men, this may seem childish and disgusting, but it is just different. What are your thoughts /sci/?

Hey /sci/borgs. I'm in my 3rd year of my Mathematics B.S.
For a while i was considering going straight into the workforce after getting my B.S., most likely Actuary or Operations Research.

However, recently i have been considering going for a PhD, which i always really wanted to do, i was just concerned with the price and what not, but with so many places giving you a full ride plus a stipend for doctorals, i've been reconsidering it.

My only problem is what to go for. I think i've always leaned towards Actuarial Sciences and Operations Research because since it's some of the most applied science, there are a lot of real jobs open for it (not to mention Actuaries having the best job in America liek 3 years running ). But you know, i don't really care about salary, as long as i am loving the job. Even a post-doctoral position is fine with me if i'm liking it. (oh yeah, and i think operations research is just cool).

So... ITT: State your favorite branch of mathematics and describe why you love it so much.
