There are a lot of examples of uplifts in books, roleplaying games and whatnot.

Surprisingly, the Uplift Universe series of books by David Brin have uplift as an overwhelmlingly(is this a word?) main plot point, with species uplifting other species, which in turn uplift other species, for at least two or three billion years, with humans possibly being the first species in at least a billion years to have risen to space faring status without the need for uplift. The only reason some species didn't enslave humanity was that humanity had already uplifted chimpanzees and dolphins, giving them some status in the intergalactic scene.

Then there's GURPS Biotech and Ultratech, with such examples as combat dolphins(some escaped that turned into greenies), omnivorous(humans too) combat chimeras, tek-rats, octopi for undersea farmwork and a lot more.

Then there's the somewhat recent books by Koontz that have at least an uplifted cat and a dog, though their roles are somewhat muted.

Even David Weber has a troupe of uplifted dogs in the third book of the Empire From Ashes trilogy.

Then there's Orion's Arm, but there's been some definite hostility towards that recently, so I won't go further into it.

While most of these have some of the uplifts as subjects in some nasty shit, a slight majority seems to reflect the human desire for companionship. Like the monolith makers in Clarke's quadrilogy, people just seem to delight in the idea of having more different intellects as companions, seeing intellect as the most precious thing in the universe. So if we find no aliens, we can still concoct our own.

>will I get booted out, outsourced, have my job taken over by youngsters, or be fucked over by more expirienced workers each industry

4-year engineering degree programs are being phased out in favor of certifications (in the US). Engineering is not a smart carrer to get into, your degree will end up being worthless.

Sorry,

Not to much to say about it. I actually went to a talk on it about a 6months ago. Pretty interesting, they were suggesting making clothing out of it (all sorts of things actually).

I thought they already have electron confinment? At least that was presented at the talk. Maybe it hasn't been published yet? In anycase, if it is not done already, I would give it 5 years. There is tons of research being done on that stuff.

The problem is the term "force". We actually dont use "force" in anything but very very baby physics (like first year shit). Most physics is calculated all in energy terms, and we dont use the silly flawed idea of force.

The 4 Fundemental forces, are actually 4 fundemental interactions. We identify these interactions, with common "forces" we see in more basic physics.

When you probably think of force, you imagine "imgainary" fields, that act at distance, like in EM. In actuallity, there is no "action at a distance", if you "see a force" it is because there are very small very fast particles interacting with eachother though space.

Ohh, this is basic freshman 1st smetser physics.

Start "collpasing" points in your diagram to simplify.

The 2, 12Ohm become, (1/12+1/12)^-1 = A
The 2, 6 Ohm become, 12 = B
The 2, 10 Ohm become, (1/10+1/10)^-1 = C

Now A and B are in parallel, (1/A+1/B)^-1 = D
D and C are in series, D+C = E

E is in series with the 1Ohm, 1+E=F

F is your total "equivalent resistance"

you should be able to figure out the rest from there!

ALSO STAY AWAY FROM ENGINEERING! UNLESS YOUR A HOMOSEXUAL!

LAMO, NO ENGINEERS ARE FAGGOTS BY DEFINITION. I think its like 85% of engineers are homosexuals, or somthing like that.

YOU SOUND LIKE A SUMMER FAG! I'll fill you in newbie! If you say "engineer" a few more times, the faggots (engineers) will come, and talk about there "gay pride"

Good question,

No, it depends "how" time is "moving", and generally has nothing to do with the "direction" of time.

There are only a few ways that time can move that allow for time homogenity. SR and Newtonian physics allow for time homogenity, however there are many other ways time could move, that would not be homogenious (Some werid ass shit).
