I lost someone I hold dear to my heart just two days ago. As someone in the hard sciences I have been skeptic of life after death for a while but, in my grief I have tried to understand more about the process of dying via articles, ted talks and the like. This has prompted me to ask the following question:

Is there actually an evolutionary purpose to people being at ease when they're dying or when people who somehow come back to life (a vast majority of them) say they see their loved ones and even claim to be able to step out of their bodies and give details about things they couldn't have known?

I mean, by that point in their lives, those who have reproduced already must've have had a chance to pass on their genes, even if they didn't share the mutation that allows for this kind of thing to happen so I wouldn't know how to explain the similarities in the experiences recorded by third parties when witnessing death. Forgive me if my knowledge of how biological systems function is limited, as it is not my area of study.

I've taken classes with this guy since february and he seems to hate my fucking guts for some reason unbeknownst to me. Okay, I don´t show up for most of his classes after lock down and I might ask a couple of redundant questions here and there because of that, but so what? When we were taking classes in person I'd show up every day on time and he'd still manage to be a dick, I remember this one time I came with a girl from our class to his office to talk about a proof about some weird piecewise function and he just scoffed, said I didn't get it and asked the girl in the most charming manner to please help me out studying for the subject or that I would most likely fail. The girl was convinced my proof was right and she dropped out for other reasons about a month later.

Today was the last straw. I have, for the most part, worked on my exams in peace and after I'm done I pass the proofs on to a friend of mine (also in my class), he consistently scores higher than me even when his work is exactly the same as mine, he gives him positive feedback while berrating me for mistakes as dumb as not writing "Let Ɛ > 0" before an epsilon-delta proof, telling me he doesn´t know why I follow such "astoundingly revolting ways to stumble upon the right results". So my friend and I devised a plan, I wrote two proofs, one for him, both were made without any help whatsoever and were sent. As is customary, he sends us our grading for the two questions in the exam and some feedback. He got full marks, i got 7/10, he even told my buddy that he had made a mistake in the proof (he didn´t transcribe it correctly) but would let him off the hook.

What the fuck do I do sci? I can't expose myself and tell him about this, I don´t even want to go to the higher ups and cry like a bitch, I just want him to treat me with some decency or at least tell me what I did to deserve this.

Im a double majoring in math and physics, recently I have aquired a fair maiden that eats my so called "cummie wummies", plays vidya and likes to shoot the shit with me in general.

I want to give her something for christmas but since I'm kind of broke at the moment (I've only got 35 bucks for gifts) I was thinking of sending her a nice letter complete with drawings, a written story and if I'm not too lazy, some math food for thought like giving her the definition of open/ closed sets and asking her to find a set that's both open and closed in the Rationals or, alternatively, giving her the notion of what a Dedekind cut is.
She's clever but she's only a chemistry major, so I'm worried about sending her a challenge like that to try on her own (although we have talked about what a set is and Russells paradox). What things could I gift her that you'd think she'd like but are inexpensive?

I have my BA in economics. Where do I go next in my life? I don't know if I'm ready to leave academics and yet I have no idea what to do now.
