Hey /sci/, I have a question -

It's pretty much understood that sound is impossible in the vacuum of space because there is no oxygen to carry sound waves, right?

With that said, I'm curious as to how astronauts Lovell, Haise, and Swigert heard the "pretty large bang" when O2 tank 2 exploded within their spacecraft's service module during the Apollo 13 mission.

Any input?
