Watched the MIT Chem lectures, and did an actual Chem course at uni and neither delved into Chemistry history. 2 out of 2, and your anecdote, adds up to 3.
Chemistry history is interesting, but that shit is not practical to your degree. If any of my lecturers delved too deeply into history and graded me on fun facts I had to remember, then I'd dump that uni on the spot. I'm paying to learn my practice. If you want Chemistry History Fun Time, go watch Periodic Table of Videos or something.
