Wow it can melt less than a millimeter of stretched plastic! Amazing!

In the real world the lasers would have to the pulse energy and frequency specifically tuned to the material being targeted. Yeah that laser looks pretty impressive cutting through steel, but that's because it was designed specifically for that purpose.

Also reactive armor would make it quite useless.
