I have just finished reading Homo Deus by Yuval Harari and he writes the following (paraphrased):

1) Science is increasingly coming to the view that organisms and algorithms and that life is essentially data processing

2) Intelligence is decoupling from consciousness

3) Non-conscious but super intelligent algorithms (first designed by humans but self-developed via machine learning & artificial neural networks) will be able to know us better than we know ourselves (since we are algorithms ourselves, see point 1).

If these steps are logically correct, then we can assert that these non-conscious algorithms, once fully developed, will essentially make humans, with their pitiful data processing systems, obsolete in society.

My question is whether you think 1) is true. Are humans/organisms really just algorithms and is life just data processing?

Here is the concept of the thread : you write about a personal life experience, and you or someone try to explain certain aspects of this experience using neuroscience

Have scientists figured out how our character traits relate to our brain?
For example, how does the brain of an industrious and proactive person differ from the brain of a lazy and passive person?

How likely is it that Mirror neurons exist? How big are they evoluntarily speaking?

So given that intelligence is almost entirely environmental, how come we don't further emphasize education for the betterment of humanity?

Does anyone have any recommendations? I would really love to get into study just the basics, if there is anything specific on will (free or not) I would like those more.

If many areas of the brain can be changed and improved, among them reaction time, emotional regulation, attention and focus, memory and concentration, then why can we not improve the areas of executive function that may be responsible for aptitude in mathematics and science?

Is studying Neuroscience a meme? I'm fascinated by the brain.
