There is no "true" or "pure" race, period.
This is because all races are themselves the result of mutations and genetic recombination.
To say "THIS is the pure, homogeneous Japanese race, and it should be preserved" is arbitrary at best, and completely subjective.
Japanese philosophers have asked a similar question about cities, with regard to preservationist efforts. Why should 1800AD Kyoto be considered more valuable than 2000AD Kyoto? Should we consider 1800 Kyoto worthless, and instead seek to restore Kyoto to its 1600AD glory?

there exist people who would be considered a certain race if only the ethnicity of their parents wasn't known. this is enough to realize that "race" is not based directly on genetics

furthermore, no "race" is "pure" -- all "races" are themselves the result of admixture. philosophically, why we should value our current set of "races" over any other set that previously existed or that will exist in the future?

Which of those two ethnicities "perished" to create the modern Japanese? Both?
Is the mixed result considered a new race? If so, does it "perish" when it reproduces with anyone that has a different mix?
