Hmmm, maybe you need to change your environment/state of mind, which could be done in an infinite amount of ways. Try to learn more about metacognition and how your personality acts in given situations.

It could be that some neurochemical balance a few days ago was similar to your childhood brain, but that's just a guess, and not very useful for you moving forward. Best tangible things I could suggest are to do cardio exercise, set and accomplish goals, and fill up on pleasurable things like good music, good friends, good new ideas, etc.

Competition and private property, the foundations of capitalism, are pretty good ideas in my opinion. A government should seek to ensure there is a healthy competition between corporations while protecting private property as much as possible.

However public programs also have benefits as well. Fire departments, universal health care, and roads are all great services to society. Can they be provided by a free market? Perhaps, but it would probably be unfeasible and at much greater expense to both suppliers and consumers.

Ultimately I think capitalism is best for elastic goods and services. Corporations should supply computers, cars, luxury goods, entertainment, and anything that is not absolutely necessary. While government is best for inelastic goods and services such as health care, safety, infrastructure etc. The reason being a public administration would not be so open to price gouging for heart transplants, putting out fires, or water since it is not profit-oriented.

My dad used to take Zeitgeist seriously. Then I calmly explained its long list of bullshit, fear tactics, and manipulation of half-truths. By the end of an hour or so conversation he finally agreed with me and has been much more skeptical and rational since.

Meat is a source of protein which is beneficial. Too much of anything can be bad though.

Ethically, I have a problem with eating corporate, mass produced meat. However I perceive eating meat from a more pastoral/organic farm as more ethical since the animals live a fairly good life.
