I don't know if it is a dumb question at all, but have you a good method for studying maths? I don't have any problem with chemistry or physics, just arithmetic.
My dad speculate that I have ADD, so I can't concentrate.
The fact is, that I find really hard to understand most of the stuff and then remember and apply it to the exercise. I know it isn't anything as hard, we are studying asymptotes (I study in Italy ehw).

TD;LR Have someone of you a good method for studying arithmetics? What can I do to learn it easier?

We want to calculate the result of the following:

x + (-1)*x =
= 1*x + (-1)*x = (associative property)
= (1 + (-1))*x =
= 0*x = 0

This shows us that (-1)*x = -x (that is, a number multiplied by -1 gives its additive inverse). Now that we know that the result is 0, we solve the equation of x = -1:

-1 + (-1)*(-1) = 0

But for this to be true, (-1)*(-1) must be the additive inverse of -1, hence:

(-1)*(-1) = +1

Sup' /sci/, I just thought about something. You probably thought about it too, but here it is. Knowing that we commonly the Hindu-Arabic numeral system (0123456789), do you think that there is a universal numeral system? A system based on constants of our Universe instead of our fingers.

I have no major in mathematics or physics, but I'm pretty sure that the Universe has a language that makes every constants more "logic". For example, the mass of the electron would be 1 and the mass of an up quark would be 2. This is a very simplified example to show that this theoretical system would show a direct link between properties of the Universe.

Does the idea already exist? Is there a way to prove that it (doesn't) exist?

I need help with a formula for Excel.

I need to write something for a project im doing that adds numbers a certain way. the first number is 3. Next, it takes 3, and then adds 3 plus 6 (9). the next cell, its takes 9 and adds 3 + 6 + 9 (18) and so on. I need to this this for 91 cells.

I have no idea what this would be called or how to do so. Any help would be great.

How do I keep up with my maths skills? I used to do quite well at math related subjects but last few years my brain has slowed down. It takes a good few seconds for me to calculate simple addition/subtractions in my head but a few years ago this would have been done in an instant. Am I just getting old?

Hey /sci/, dyscalculiafag here.

I have a math learning disability and as a result I have about the general math ability of a seventh grader, and the mental math ability of a third grader. What is the best way to help me learn math? I have wanted to be in the medical profession for awhile but I don't know if I'll be able to handle the math courses required.

Mathfags, please explain to non-mathfag why .99999999999999_ = 1
I took calc 1,2 dfq, blah blah blah and have read the proofs of the net.

What I need is someone to explain to me why an infinite amount of something = unity. An infinity of something, no matter how small, is still infinity, not one (zenos paradoxes come to mind). .9999999999999 seems to asympototically approach 1 but never get there. Is it because mathematics without units is only theoretical ergo meaningless?

I know I will get a mathfag rage aganist me, but perhaps in that rage someone will help explain this. I know the PROOFS, philisophically it makes no sense, and just because a proof says so in a logical system doesnt mean it is SO (goedels incompleteness theorem).
