worst case scenario something spills and renders an over priced gizmo usless when a $1 composition book would do the job just fine. Paper is actually a much safer way to store notes. A broken round bottom full of THF or a flask of water will kill electronics. With the right ink a paper record is fine. I still do plenty of work on my laptop in the realm of data analysis, but I don't let it near a lab bench.

I always use a black uni super ink. Quick ink flow, light pressure required, dark ink that is easy to read. They aren't the most chemically resistant though. I am planning to test out the gelly roll pens sometime.
