If f(x,y)=\sqrt{x^2+y^2}, is f((a,b)x(c,d))=(\sqrt{a^2+c^2},\sqrt{b^2+d^2})?

How do you prove "topological continuity" (i.e. U open => f^{-1}(U) open) for f:C* -> R+, f(z)=|z|?

Both C* and R+ with the subspace topology of the euclidean topology.

I thought about rewriting z=x+iy and then looking at the pre-images in RxR

So... here's the thing...
I'm 29 years old.

Between 18 and 27 years I did random jobs, lazied about a lot and basically wasted my youth.

Now I'm currently halfway in my way to an Accounting degree which I got suckered into mostly because of parental pressure after getting my shit together.

By the time I graduate I will be 31-32.
But I've realized that I hate Accounting, and that STEM (Biology actually) is what I've loved since I was a kid.

My question... is 32 years old too late to start a STEM career?

Is it worth it? Should I finish my current degree? How much of a difference do those 3 years make?
Or is it too late anyway?

>gender dysphoria/gender identity disorder is an illness; transitioning is the treatment.
Funny, must be the only psychological pathology where giving in to the delusions and mutilating the body is advertised as the cure, rather than changing the mind.

Now the normalization of this insanity has reached the point where kids as young as 3 are being told to "transition", forever fucking up their normal childhood development, even though studies show that only 12% of children with gender dysphoria report still having it as adults.

12%
TWELVE FUCKING PERCENT
FOR 88% OF CHILDREN IT GOES AWAY
NATURALLY
AND THESE PEOPLE WANT TO GET THEM INTO HORMONE BLOCKERS AND FUCK UP THEIR CHILDHOODS FOREVER BECAUSE LITTLE JANE HAD A PHASE WHERE SHE LIKED GI JOE AND LITTLE TIMMY HAD A PHASE WHERE HE LIKED BARBIE

Just to put the insanity you are supporting in perspective.

>I've seen many kids over the years present with all the indicators of GID, and in terms of my quantitative measures they're very extreme. But the follow-up studies I've done, and others too, show [that] a substantial majority of kids seen for GID in childhood show desistance — that is, when they're older they don't want to be the other sex. We just published a study of 25 girls we first saw in childhood and found that only 12 percent seem to have persistent gender dysphoria when they're older. We find similar rates of persistence in boys.

True.
However with that definition every day you are new "you", different from old one.
It all boils down to how we define "you".

>>8406411
>No, when you are killed, you will experience death permanently.
You cannot experience anything when you are unconscious.
>The reconstructed brain will be a new consciousness, although an exact copy, and nobody else would know the difference, including the new consciousness.
Consciousness do not go to sleep and wake up. Consciousness is an effect of working, conscious brain. The moment you go to sleep, your brain stops conscious process and it appears again when brain wakes up.
>You personally will not wake up in that brain, you will not experience that happening.
How do I personally choose what brain to wake up in? Where am I when I'm sleeping? If my body is moved somewhere else while I'm sleeping, will I wake up in the same body again? What if I had Clinical death? What if someone slice my brain and then put it together? What if someone take every atom from my brain and rebuild it somewhere else, or take every atom and replace it with another, or take every atom, convert it into information and build it again somewhere else?
Where is the line when I personally can wake up in the brain or "get lost" and new consciousness appear the same as mine?

Define suicide
>inb4 when you kill yourself
Define "you" then. If the clone is you then it's suicide.

Array can be in fact an object, like in C++14.
Function Any might be member of trait/interface an array implements, like in Rust.
Function Any might be an extension methods, like in C#

>liberals so scared of nuclear power
I feel like there is some difference in what "liberal" means in US and Europe.
In here, no liberal would go against nuclear power, only pseudo-ecologistfrom green parties and socialists go against them. Liberals say people are free, so even if private company wants to build nuclear power to sell power, it can just do it. And I often see people posting that liberals are connected to LGBT and stuff, but in here it's socialists who bother with this shit, while liberals thinks everyone should be equal from point of law and that's all, no social campaigns, no positive discrimination and other bullshit.
Can someone explain this difference to me?
