I know I'm massively oversimplifying, but is it fair to say a rocket would have far less fatigue cracking than an airliner? Very basically speaking, a rocket only really endures significant forces in one direction for a couple of minutes, within a well controlled region (ie. not launching when there's a lot of wind shear). Contrast with planes, which have to deal with all sorts of weather conditions, turbulence, loading in different directions and pressurisation/depressurisation cycles on the fuselage constantly.
