If it was funded NASA, Russian, China, Europe or even India I would because those people actually have a shot. But Mars one, Pfffft.

Even if I was the first person on Mars, I wouldn't ever be as cool as Yuri

If you create time and then destroy it, did any of it actually happen?

Hey /sci/

Taking an earth science course and was asked the question "what caused the ice age?" He told me to search it up (and i did), but i want to hear what you think.
If you could give me a serious answer so when he asks me again tomorrow i can give a real answer that maybe adds to what i already know.
I also want to hear the ideas that you have can be fiction if you want.

I think I'm pretty smart, atleast smarter than my own age group at times. I get thinks quickly and they can stick with me. Another question, though might be a little more suited for /k/, has anyone here gone through the Navy/ U.S. Military Scholarship programs? Specifically the Navy Nurse program and the Navy Schol.? How difficult are they to get accepted for it? If you're taking a tier 2 major (basically non-engineering) how does it lower your chances of getting the schol.?

Hello there /sci/
I have been lurking /b/ since 2007, but as I have grown up considerably since then I find myself less and less interested in it. Then I found /sci/ and have been lurking here a huge amount of the last couple weeks, I am fascinated by the topics discussed daily here. I have a question of /sci/ though, even though it has been attempted many times on /b/, but failed every time, has anything productive or organized ever taken place on /sci/, persons actually working together towards a common goal? The people here are obviously more intelligent than those on /b/, and therefore would in my mind be more capable of collaboration. So just wondering, has anything like that ever occurred here?

From what I understand, which is little, the state of singularity is how the Universe would have "begun" (Yes, time and space did not exist before the big bang). A singularity would have been it's initial form before expanding, cooling, and the creation of matter in the 10^30/Second or whatever it is. Please correct or disregard any of this that is wrong.

My question is, is it logically possible for such an instance to be true? Can a singularity exist and how could it have always existed, (going to reiterate no time and space before big bang) theories accepted. How can that something be there?

I do not follow any religion, however, this is the clinching thing I find holds me from devout atheism. I see a being must, or at least could have created this... and then he went and fucked off to play scrabble whilst the Universe happened or whatever. We can logically assume that if "God" always existed then the Universe could also have always existed, but I would like to know how.

Just curious (In before gay joke)

Hi /sci/.

Sorry to be an arse, but my dad was talking to me about moon landing conspiracies when I visited home for a family dinner. He put forward some very good points so I just want an explanation on them. I'm relaying basically what he said so sorry if it doesn't make sense.

1) The magnetosphere protects us from radiation from the sun. When you get to the moon, you have no magnetosphere to protect you. The astronauts walked around on the moon but did not die from cancer then or later on, which should be impossible.

2) Solar winds/Solar flares. I Don't have to explain this one, it's quite famous as an argument.

I'm pretty neutral on the subject, but I'd like explanations of them, such as if they are valid arguments etc.
Thanks.

Perhaps you don't read about human progression in the great beyond let me give you a crash course.

Obama axed a huge part of the NASA budget over the next couple of years, his hope is that private corporation competition will fill the gap and encourage competition in a previously uncontested environment which rendered space costs extremely expensive.

SpaceX run by one of my personal heroes Elon Musk is kick starting humanity into space because the American government has lost sight on innovation in the sake of greed and nonsense.

Mars is back on the agenda it's only a matter of time.

Today I feel good to be human again. May we reign supreme over the galaxy.

Hey guys I was doing my online hw and I have been stumped by this hydrolysis problem. It might just be the online program, but just in case I want a second opinion.

So we have CH3NH3Cl reacting with H2O I need to write a reaction that explains why the CH3NH3Cl solution is acidic.

CH3NH3Cl (aq) + H2O (l) if I am writing the reaction correctly it should come out to be

CH3NH3Cl (aq) + H2O (l) <-------> CH3NH2 (aq) + H30^+ (aq)

The Cl^- ion gets left out of the reaction due to the fact that its such a weak B.L conjugate base, and that hydrogen should break off and form the H30.

What am I missing?
