Have you tackled any relativistic QM or scalar field theory yet?

You reduce spacetime UV divergences (such as those found in the graviton field) with more dimensions in the matter fields and with SUSY, at least you can conceptualize and appreciate that. Many people cannot.

There's still a problem with higher dimensional objects though. More dimensions equates to more internal degrees of freedom, so now you're getting divergences from this as well. A single dimension allows both the spacetime and internal divergences to stay under control.

A string is an /elementary/ excitation of a string field <span class="math">\Phi[X(\sigma), G(\sigma), F_{\alpha}(\sigma)]
for the specific state. Consider for example a string action depicting a coherent background of gravitons, so you have a traceless symmetric tensor. Self-interaction and dynamics in the vertex operator will always produce several gravitons acting as a single traverse fluctuation on this string field that reproduces changes in <span class="math">G_{\mu v}
.

Theta was banned? Fuck you mods!

I don't know enough differential geometry to answer your question

Sorry OP

God I swear half the people here are fucking retarded

<span class="math">E^2 - |\vec{p} \,|^2 c^2 = m^2 c^4
simplifies to <span class="math">p^2=m^2
you fucking idiot!

There's nothing wrong with natural units. And there was nothing wrong with what he said about "energy levels", he used layman terminology. The quantum states do change, but do to decoherence it's not noticable.
