How plausible or bad an idea is it to go from being placed into College Algebra 1 to Calculus 1? I start at PSU this spring and I'm wondering if any other /sci/ anons have tried to do this.

Would it actually be bad for me to try to cram and take the placement test to go from a 30% to a 76% and would I be hindering my maths education? Should I just take the College Algebra 1 and then the trig classes so that I can be sure that I know what I need to know before Calculus 1? I know I've seen anons talk about this stuff here.
