HEY SCIENCE PEOPLE.

I GOT A QUESTION FOR YOU.

Why do we need the glass part of incandescent lightbulbs? The light's created from that little wire in the middle, so why not just have the screw-in bit, the wire, and some sort of detachable screwing-in device like a handle? Wouldn't that save a shitton on the cost of glass AND prevent bulbs from exploding?
