You can't infer anything about ancient humans on the basis of our modern diets because modern cuisine has been deeply influenced by social and cultural factors. Dietary norms and expectations have been socially constructed fitness and media, and the different cuisine that different people eat across the world are extremely diverse. In some parts of the world, for instance, they eat much larger quantities of rice, which actually does have a substantial fiber content. Modern western diets involve a lot of meat, but that is largely do to marketing by the meat industry.
