(4) seems wrong, because B is a union of finite sets and N is an infinite set. it's a bit hard to see since you have "n>=1" which kind of "suggests" infinity but it's like this. No matter what n you "take" there's always another natural number. And yet if you "take" some supposed maximum natural number, n would have to be greater than that number (a contradiction) for (4) to be true, so it's untrue no matter how you look at it.
(2) I don't think a countable set can have equal cardinality to an uncountable one
(3) is just bizarre, seems like an actual typo or something, not sure if you can really say a set of numbers is a subset of R, so it's false. i'm raising my hand and asking the professor about it. If by R he meant B then it's false for the same reason as (4)

finally i don't even know what that squiggle is in (1) but the other three are wrong so i'm hail marying (1) and hoping it's just the thing i forgot to study
i'm a nigger though -- a nigger that does well on tests, but still a nigger nonetheless, so given my low average iq you should take all this with a grain of salt
thanks for the fun

Hey guys, looking for a specific topology textbook. I believe it was by a Polish author. There were no proofs in the text, but rather every proof was left to the reader. Can't remember too many other details, unfortunately.

I used it to study for my topology finals a few years ago and I'd like use it again for review.

studying algebra was fun and illuminating
meanwhile when i finished my baby's first analysis class take-home final i felt like i had been beaten up. probably being forced to use maple was a big part of that. but there's just something inherently boring about spending hours proving error bounds and deriving method #246 of finding the area under a curve. always had trouble staying awake in class.
but i'm an engineering phd brainlet so my opinion doesn't really count for shit.

For comparison I struggle with terrible writer's block with technical writing even with stuff I have expert-level knowledge in. I've tried atmospheric stuff (coffee shop, rain, etc) and background music (jazz, piano, even fucking "lofi hip hop") at low volumes, and it takes me a whole hour to shit out one paragraph.

"Placebo" was actually my very first thought when I noticed how fast I was writing.
I'll give some trance a try and see how it goes.

Sci. I need help choosing a major/career path. I am still 1 year away from starting college. My interests vary a lot but they stay within stem fields. I have considered going into medical physics because I love physics and helping people. Also I hear that medical physicists do stuff that regular physicians couldn't touch with a pole. Other majors I've considered are electrical engineering and also physics. No I'm not looking into it because people/parents/teachers tell me that I should so no I'm not falling for a meme. I know that they will be challenging and pretty much destroy my social life. I kinda already don't have much of a social life to begin with so it shouldn't be much of a loss. I spend most of my time studying mathematics and science. I am an accomplished autodidact, I taught myself integral and differential calculus, ODE, LA, elementary real and complex analysis. The more mathematics I learn the more I think about just doing a math major. I would love to do research in mathematics but I get scared because of all the things I hear about math majors being likely to have suicidal thoughts and stuff like that. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Fourier.

Out of curiosity how is his name properly pronounced, is it four-e-ay, fo-e-ay or Four-e-er?

Notice that I'm asking for the proper pronunciation. Don't mimi me pls.

16 and I was self taught. Now I'm 17 and I'm going to learn LA this summer. I honestly don't understand why AP needs to be in the title of courses. None of the students are advanced in mathematics. Most of them actually complain about having to do math. That's probably why I'm alpha as fuck walking around with LA, multivariable calc, real analysis, and abstract algebra books while still being in high school. Yeah that's right I fuck undergrad math major chicks.

I want to (self) study PDE's. What is the minimum I should know prior to trying?

I know Multivariate Calculus, ODE's and some light experience in doing proofs.

I've read that I should know real analysis prior. Is there any merit to that claim?

Alright /sci/, I just realized that I barely have any dank science/math/philosophy memes. Anyone wanna help out? I'll start off by dumping what I have.
