Stop that shit. The problem is that the energy industry should be regional, not national. States, counties and municipalities should use the resources in their area and most already do - sunny areas use solar power, windy areas use wind, etc.

The same principle can be applied to biofuel; rather than shipping corn ethanol around the country, use whatever plants grow best in your climate. For instance, sweet potatoes grow well in the Southeast, switchgrass grows well in the West, sugarbeets, soybeans, corn etc. can be used as generics to fill in the gaps. And these crops don't have to displace food crops, either. People could grow them in their back yards, businesses and schools, then sell/exchange them to their local energy companies for fermentation and use.
