Its virtually universally agreed that set theory is the foundation for all modern mathematics

so why does early schooling spend years and years learning arithmetic with natural numbers and memorizing useless formulas of geometric objects for a basis of math? Wouldn't it make more sense to introduce set theory at a younger age to ease better into higher abstract thinking involving math?
