So in math class we are supposed to use toothpicks and wood glue to build a structure that is at least 2 feet high and can hold at least 5 pounds. The teacher will make everyone a p value, by using the formula (height of project X weight held) / (mass of project X size of projects base) on their structure, and the highest p value gains extra credit, which I desperately need. The base will be measured by making the smallest square that fits the base inside it and measuring that square. I was thinking of just making a 5 by 5 inch rectangle that is 3 feet tall with many triangles on the sides and inside it, but I could definitely use some help. Can anyone give me advice?
