This is legitimately possible, and the mechanism suggested by OPs article shows why. The generalized immune response probably includes cytokine cascades. Cytokines are neurologically active peptides. This can have direct effects on the symptoms you describe (brain fog and depression).

But while the diet may treat the symptoms it is not a cure so it can be a double edged sword for other organ systems, as disorders of the inflammation-modulating pathways can be. I think its advisable for the red meat eaters to eat the minimum amount necessary to get the effect, and offset the exposure by regular exercise and supplementation of soluble fiber as the cancer risk increases for the intestines and alimentary canal in general.

Eggs are a common allergen, Potato as well. I'm allergic to both. Just met a girl at a party that had allergy to onions. I went through elimination diet in 2010, figured out wheat was bad. Not only that but millet and oats. Later I found that I needed to be aware that wheat is common contaminant of oats. Despite all this progress I still had symptoms. Examined my diet, and eliminated everything I was eating on a regular basis and stuck to very limited diet of certain things I was not allergic to. This time discovered clear relationship between symptoms and almonds. But also, Potato. Did some research on my extended family. They've discovered allergies to celery and carrots.

So I've eliminated potato, wheat, eggs, millet, carrots, and celery. Symptoms are all better. It helps also that I exercise on the regular.

Bottom line is that many errors are possible in the elimination diet. You must be diligent and take notes. Immediate family history very relevant. The one thing that really helped me back in 2010 was emphatic hint I picked up somewhere. If there is a symptom, there is a cause. The cause is directly to related to something you're eating. If you can't identify it, assume contamination, which is common in packaged foods. That is pretty much it. Remove the trigger, and your symptoms should subside.

Oh, and Psyllium fiber (pic related is certified gluten free), and drink plenty of water. Fiber and water is super important to get your bowels back in order. Follow the directions on package.

Improve your overall health with endurance and resistance exercise. For someone in your condition, never drink alcohol, ever.
