Howdy fellas. I’m 23 years old and I’m 12 days post-op heart transplant. Some background, when I was 18 I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, then at 19 I had my first bout of ventricular tachycardia, then had my first pacemaker/defibrillator installed. After about 4 or 5 isolated shocks over the course of 4 months, I had what is called a vtach storm, where I was shocked 48 times! I was sedated after the first 4 and then the next I remember is waking up 7 days later with heart failure. Over the course of 3 years the heart failure progressively got worse to the point of needing to be hospitalized indefinitely in December of 2020. After 29 days of what was supposed to be a wait of 1 to 6 months, i received word that a donor heart had been found. If this is interesting to you at all, please feel free to ask away. I’m so bored waiting to get the last of the tubes out of me snd would love to share knowledge with any medfsgs from an informed patients perspective.
