thinking about getting a masters degree in chemistry. How long does this normally take? and what kind of pay would I expect to get in countries such as the US or Australia?

Also, what kind of jobs do people normally apply for? I'm sort of interested in developing new drugs or synthetic cannabanoids which are really popular in NZ.
