What is American culture? -eating/football/work

How do Americans live? -in houses, that are worth less than their mortgage, and they live with a ton of debt

What does America stand for? - it depends on who you talk to but most people would say freedom -> this means different things if you're a republican or democrat. Republicans want freedom of business in a nearly Laissez-faire economy where personal/social freedom is governed by religion. Democrats favor helping the poor through government regulation of business and distributing the wealth but republicans argue that this hurts the economy. Democrats don't want to limit social freedom as much.

Given one word what would be most suitable to describe an American? - enterprising/religous

Generally, how do most American's live? in debt

List any stereotypes of Americans. fat, baseball (but it should be football (not soccer football, but american football))

Additional Comments relating to Americans:
we hardly get any vacation/sick days. If you're salary the minimum is 2 weeks per year for both sick/vacation combined. -fail

Let's speak about "economy" on /sci/

The true question everybody ask is :
- Must money be a mean to get shit done, like have everybody live comfortably (and do research in a collective effort).
or :
- Must cooperation and scientific advancement only be some means of making money ? (for whoever succeed at claiming the benefit)

Because the day robot will be able to do everything human being can do, there will be no point to pay anybody to do anything.
And the day we will be able to reach any resource in space, humanity may result into a bunch of Super-corporations controlled by Transhumans individuals whose only goal will be to protect his own comfort.

People don't understand that Capitalism is actually anarchy and natural kept in "pretend" leash.

I often hear that "capitalism brought us everything".
It's forgetting that Democracy work thanks to socialistic principle like "Let's agree together about how to live peacefully and go in the same direction".

So grossly : THE ONLY REASON YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO POSSESS ANYTHING is because democracy and separation of power keep anybody from making you slave because it's more profitable to him.

If we followed Liberal Capitalism to it's logical conclusion we should hand the government to whoever is the highest bidder. And it's not hard to find company that have more money than government.

A luck that rich people know better than to put their own place on sale because if they didn't : Fear the day when human right will be negotiable.

the purpose of government is to reconcile the interests of the governed with the interests of the government. constitutional democracy does the best job of fulfilling that purpose. alternatives don't work because power corrupts.
if the people want stupid things, who cares? give them stupid things, as long as you limit the damage they can cause. which is what a constitution is for.
