I was talking to someone affiliated with a Harvard fellowship I tried to apply for and it sounded like Epstein getting busted kind of ruined everything because he was a donor or something.
Projects came under a lot of scrutiny and they ended up prioritising projects with a diversity angle to save face. It also didn't help that most of the fellowships went to white men who liked computers.
I'm not saying that's why I wasn't offered a fellowship, but it probably didn't help.
