I'm wondering about a specific evolutionary trait that a species has that is a disadvantage externally (easier for predators to see them, humans wasting money on fancy cars etc.) but turns out to be an advantage in mate selection.

Basically being alpha enough to have a disadvantage to get womminz.

Anyone know what its called?
