the shift happened when the apparatus of science shifted to circular referencing and grant farming, rather than a legitimate, heartfelt desire to better understand the universe with the help of rigorous, vigilant testing

unfortunately"scientist" is now le quirky lifestyle, rather than the passion of the best of man.
it also doesn't help that science has become a pseudo-religion. The ugly truth is that most people don't have the desire to be free thinkers, to challenge what they believe. They don't have time for that in between wage slaving, masturbating and consuming junk food. And since mysticism based religion has lost it's mainstream appeal, people need something else to latch onto and believe in undoubtedly.
People just cannot fathom the concept that nothing is as it appears, and that our perspective is flawed.
This phenomenon has pervaded our society, and slowly even our scientific community. People don't really care to check things anymore, if a study has the name of a prestigious institution plastered on it they believe it like the word of god. The problem is that scientific advancement is inherently incompatible with dogma and when you attempt to fuse the two concepts you acquire something that is dead in the water.
To build a sound foundation for the universe we think in axioms, which function similarly to dogmas, in the sense that we need to put our trust in them. Axiom, unlike dogma, is malleable.
As an atheist, I actually think that religion (as long as it does not have a role in governmental decision making) having more prevalence in society would actually be good for scientific advancement.
If people have a religion they can obsess and fawn over, they no longer need pseudo-'scientific' FACKTS to guide them, and science can continue forward unhindered.
>TL;DR
The "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE XDDD" mindset is what's challenging today's scientists. Our predecessors had their own challenges to deal with, as will our descendants, but this is Our fight.

I'm a senior at uni studying CS, and made the mistake of putting off a vector calc class I need to take until now. I forgot literally everything from the first 4 calculus classes I took. What is the best way to refresh myself, in say 4 hours or less? Khan academy or something else?

Where can I find the data/recordings of Newton, Kepler, or other old scientists?

I’m todays modern age it’s easy to find the results and data of experiments but I can’t seem to find Newton’s measurements of the planets and such. I’d like to see what they did to analyze or piece together the data to come to their conclusions. How did hey record them? What notation and etc
